The BJP will make its development record and future plans the centrepiece of its campaign for the November 27 Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and other civic body elections in Tripura. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha told the media on November 5 that the party would approach voters directly and explain how the government had worked for their welfare.

Addressing the media after an organisational meeting with the party’s nominated candidates at the BJP state headquarters in Krishnanagar, Agartala, on Thursday, Dr Saha said winning people’s support remained the party’s primary objective.

He stressed that the BJP would highlight the development initiatives undertaken by the government and explain the work that remained to be completed. The meeting discussed election preparations, organisational matters and the party’s campaign strategy.

“Our main agenda is to win the election by securing people’s support. We will reach out to the people and highlight the development work we have undertaken. We will explain how much development has taken place and how this government has worked for the welfare of the people,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the party would also inform voters about its future plans and the additional work it intended to undertake.

BJP to Focus on Development and Direct Voter Outreach

Dr Saha indicated that the BJP would rely on its government’s performance while seeking public support in the upcoming elections.

He said the party would communicate its achievements directly to voters rather than allow the campaign to revolve around political allegations and counter-allegations.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need to explain the government’s development initiatives properly so that people could understand the work undertaken for their benefit.

He also said the party would present its future priorities before the electorate.

The BJP’s strategy, as outlined by Dr Saha, centres on taking its development record to households and seeking support through direct engagement with voters.

Dr Saha Takes Dig at Opposition’s Internal Differences

The Chief Minister also criticised opposition parties over their political differences and the uncertainty surrounding their electoral understanding.

Referring to the parties that had initially come together under the INDIA bloc banner, he said their alliance had subsequently faced disagreements and internal conflicts.

He questioned how the opposition parties would coordinate their political activities when they continued to differ among themselves.

“They had named their alliance the INDIA bloc. We had said that there was no longer anything called INDIA. Ultimately, it has turned into ‘INDI-jot’. They themselves seem unable to understand what they should do and how they should proceed. They are always in a state of confusion,” Dr Saha said.

Using the Bengali expression ‘kinkartabyabimudh’, he described the opposition as being in a state of confusion and uncertainty about its next course of action.

However, the Chief Minister declined to comment further on the opposition’s internal affairs.

“Let them do their own work. I will not comment on that. We will approach the people with our work and explain what we have accomplished and what more we plan to do in the coming days,” he said.

CM Explains BJP’s Ideological Position

Responding to a question about Pinaki Chakraborty, the BJP’s mayoral candidate from Ward No. 16, Dr Saha was asked about Chakraborty’s intention to pursue politics based on the Chief Minister’s ideals.

Dr Saha clarified that the BJP’s guiding principles were rooted in the ideology of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the philosophy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

He specifically referred to Integral Humanism, the ideological philosophy associated with Upadhyaya.

“Our guiding ideal is Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bharatiya Janata Party also follows the philosophy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, particularly his concept of Integral Humanism. If someone wants to follow this ideology, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, that is how it should be,” he said.

BJP Holds Key Meeting Ahead of Nomination Process

The BJP meeting at its Krishnanagar headquarters assumed significance as political activities gathered momentum ahead of the November 27 civic elections.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, BJP state president Abhishek Debroy and the party’s nominated candidates attended the organisational meeting.

The interaction took place ahead of the candidates’ submission of nomination papers. The leadership discussed election preparations, organisational coordination and the party’s future course of action.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the senior leadership to discuss the campaign approach with the candidates who will contest the upcoming elections.

The BJP’s preparations and the strategy it adopts to reach voters are expected to remain a major focus of the election campaign.

CPIM Steps Up Campaign for Champa Dey in AMC Ward 48

Meanwhile, the Left Front has intensified its grassroots campaign in support of CPIM candidate Champa Dey in Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 48.

The candidate received an encouraging response during a door-to-door campaign in the Hapania Madhya Para area.

Several party leaders and local workers accompanied Champa De during the campaign. They included CPIM Dukli Sub-Divisional Committee member Arindam Biswas, Hapania Area Committee secretary Abul Hussen, party leaders Ashish Chakraborty and Ashish Pal, and former councillor Tapan Biswas.

Local party workers and supporters also participated in the outreach programme.

The campaign focused on direct interaction with residents as the Left Front seeks to consolidate support for its candidate in the ward.

With the BJP highlighting its development record and the opposition parties stepping up their respective campaigns, political activity is intensifying across Tripura ahead of the November 27 civic body polls.
