IHMIS Brings All Govt Hospitals Under Digital Network

Addressing the gathering, Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte said Tripura was pursuing complete digitisation of healthcare services.

The department has already introduced an Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS) to bring hospital operations and patient services under a unified digital framework.

Tripura has achieved 100 per cent coverage in the public healthcare sector through this initiative. Every government hospital in the state has joined the IHMIS platform.

The government is now preparing to extend the system to private healthcare institutions. It aims to bring the private sector under the digital network within the next two months.

The larger objective is to establish a fully digital and paperless healthcare system across the state. This transition will reduce dependence on conventional paperwork and enable hospitals to manage essential services electronically.

Gitte highlighted the digital operations at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital as an example of the state’s progress.

Agartala Civil Hospital Sets Example in Paperless Services

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital has operated without paper-based procedures since the first day of its functioning.

Patients visiting the hospital can complete the entire service process digitally. The system covers OPD registration, token generation, admission-related procedures, prescriptions, medicine distribution and laboratory testing.

This arrangement allows patients to access different hospital services through a digital process without relying on conventional manual documentation.

All Government Hospitals to Go Paperless from November 10

Tripura has set November 10 as the deadline for introducing completely paperless services in all government hospitals.

The announcement marks another significant step in the state’s digital healthcare programme. From that date, government hospitals will discontinue manual, paper-based procedures as they transition to fully digital operations.

The government also plans to complete the integration of private healthcare facilities into the IHMIS within the following two months.

This expansion will extend the benefits of digital hospital management beyond the public healthcare network and move the state closer to its goal of comprehensive healthcare digitisation.

To demonstrate the progress of its digital healthcare initiatives, Tripura has invited national officials and representatives attending the Kolkata meeting to visit the state.

The CEO of the National Health Authority and State Health Secretary formally extended the invitation for the delegates to witness the transformation firsthand.

Health experts opined, with the November 10 deadline approaching, the state is moving towards a more integrated and technology-driven healthcare delivery system.
