December 15, 2017: The State Health department has urged all health care center to avoid using Pantoprazole and Norfloxacin tab of certain batch nos with immediate effect. In a letter Director of Family Welfare, Govt of Tripura directed all the CMOs to inform Community Health Centers, Primary Health Center and other health service centers not to prescribe Pantoprazole 40mg Tab with bath no PRJT-1001, manufacturing date being 11/2016 and 04/2015. The expiry date for this batch of the Tablets is 10/2018.
Besides, the letter directed the CMOs to refrain from prescribing Norfloxacin 400mg Tab with batch no 1800615, manufacturing date being and 04/2015 and expiry date being 03/2018.
While Pantoprazole Tab was manufactured by M/S Wing Biotech, Bangalore based M/S Karnataka Antibiotic & Pharmaceuticals Ltd manufactured the Norfloxacin Tab. The letter mentioned that these two medicines failed to clear quality test conducted by the Deputy Drug Controller, Agartala.
The letter said, the two medicines “declared as Not of Standard Quality after testing by the Government Analyst”.
