January 17, 2018: The leaders of BJP and IPFT on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting on electoral alliance at State Guest House. Focusing on the meeting, BJP’s election in-charge for the State and Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing a press conference on Wednesday said, today’s meeting ended with positive notes and the discussion will continue in Guwahati on Thursday. Then, we will have a clear picture on the possible electoral understanding.
On seat sharing he said, Seats are limited. At first, we have to settle down the ideological issues and then the final decision on seat sharing will be taken. Expressing hope, he said a joint statement in this regard will be issued on Thursday or a day after. He also expressed hope that Poll schedules will be announced within one or two days time.
Training guns on ruling CPIM, Sharma alleged, the state government employees are being forced by the ruling party to give Rs. 3000 each on an average for electoral fund.
Expressing deep concern, he said, “We have collected the donation slips. The state unit of BJP will soon knock ECI’s door in this regard.” he said. He also threatened to lodge an FIR against CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar under section 384 of IPC if the collection of ‘force donation’ is not stopped.
