February 03, 2018: In Tripura, today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations for Assembly elections. Talking to media persons in Agartala, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Modak said that five candidates withdrew their nominations yesterday.
They include Trinmool Congress (TMC) candidate from Rajnagar and four independent candidates for Bagma, Sabroom, Korbook and Pabiacherra constituencies. The voting for the 60-member assembly will be held on 18th of this month while counting will be taken up on 3rd of next month.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of various political parties have started visiting Tripura for campaigning. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two day visit of Tripura from today. He will be arriving in the evening at Agartala. During his visit, he will hold road shows and public meetings at various places.
