- Chief Minister and Health Minister visited GB Hospital today
- Stinking smell in Hospital kitchen caught officials off-guard

- Asked for reports about patients referred to other states and other Hospitals with name of doctors who had referred the patients.
Preparations and pre-cautions were meticulously taken, still GB Hospital authority failed to hide highly unhygienic ambiance of the Hospital from the Chief Minister Biplab Deb and Health Minister Sudip Roybarman. Both the Ministers accompanied by Officers of the concerned department today visited GB Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC). This was the first tour of Biplab Deb after he assumed Office.
During his pre-planned visit, GB Hospital authority made all efforts to present a rosy picture of the Hospital. But big loopholes in Health care delivery system could not be buried under the carpet. Biplab Deb, Sudip Roybarman and other Officials were ‘greeted’ with stinking smell after entered the kitchen of the Hospital.
Already informed about several irregularities and lethargic attitude of the doctors and medical staffs, Biplab Deb urged to improve the service delivery of the Hospital within a month. “A construction may not be completed within a month, but change of mentality can be done within a day”, he said while asking for improvement. Everyone should report to duties timely and discharge their duties sincerely – improvement must be visible within a month, otherwise proper administrative actions will be initiated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has sought detailed reports about number of patients referred to other States and number of Patients referred to other Hospitals in the State. He also asked to mention the name doctors who had referred the patients.
After visiting the Female Burn ward which is in deplorable condition, Biplab Deb asked the PWD and other concerned officials to repair the building immediate and explore possibility of relocating the ward elsewhere. He also asked to install CCTV camera in Emergency ward.
Biplab Deb and Sudip Roybarman interacted with the doctors and relatives of patients undergoing treatment at ICU. He later asked the Officials to chart out plans to upgrade the facilities at the earliest so that common people can avail quality treatment and no one return from the Hospital untreated. He assured that fund would not be an issue.
Earlier Sudip Roybarman announced State Government’s plan to introduce a series of reforms in the health sector after holding marathon review meeting.
