April 13, 2018: Veteran Hindi film actor Vinod Khanna was today given Dadasaheb Phalke Award posthumously. Khanna is the 49th recipient of the Award, which is Indian cinema’s highest honour. The actor died on April 27 last year at the age of 70 after battling cancer. The 65th National Film Awards were announced this afternoon. The National Award for Best Film has gone to Assamese film- Village Rockstars.
Late eminent actress Sridevi was awarded Best Actress posthumously for “Mom” whereas Riddhi Sen was chosen as Best Actor for his role in Bengali film ‘Nagarkirtan’.
The film Newton was judged as the Best Hindi film. The Award for Best Director has gone to Jayaraj for Malayalam film ‘Bhayanakam’. Fahad Fazil has been chosen as the Best Supporting Actor for the movie Thondimuthalum Drikshakshiyum and Divya Dutta bagged the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the Hindi feature film, Irada.
Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 was chosen for Best Popular Film for Providing Wholesale Entertainment, Best Special Effects and Best Action Direction Award categories. The film Dhappa has been chosen as Best Feature Film on national integration. ‘Water Baby’ directed by Pia Shah, won the Best Debut Film of a Director in the Non-Feature Film category. (AIR News)
