Tripura: Police seize illegally stored foreign liquor

April 19, 2018: Police recovered large cache of foreign liquor – stored illegally – from a house in Ambassa in Dhalai district in Tripura. Sources said, acting on tip off, Ambassa Police led by SDPO Pranab Debnath raided a house at tribal dominated ‘Nine mile’ area on Ambassa-Gandachhera road and recovered 65 bottles of foreign liquor. Police arrested one person, identified as Ananta Debbarma (23).

Police sources said, foreign liquors were stored for mixing with cheap and low quality liquors. Miscreants procure such low grade liquor reportedly from neighbouring Assam and sale duplicate foreign liquor after mixing. Though, Police was successful in nabbing Ananta Debbarma, the King-pin of this racket remains elusive.
