April 19, 2018: The BJP led Tripura government has charted out several plans to make Tripura a model state within next three years – as tourism has huge potentiality, no stone will be left unturned to improve the infrastructures in various tourism destinations including Unokoti, Neer Mahal, Matabari and Chabimura for strengthening the Tourism sector, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb said today after inaugurating 19th Garia Utsav and Sanhati Mela held at Taichama of Bharat Chandranagar in Belonia under South Tripura district.
Garia Fest is harvest festival of ethnic communities in the State. The rich traditional culture and custom are part of the festival. People – irrespective of caste and religion – attend the programme.
Addressing the joyous people, the Chief Minister said that Tripura had turned into a ‘safe haven’ for the drug peddlers in the past few years.
“The drug smugglers were given a free hand for running the business illegally in last 25 years. But, the BJP led government is committed to free Tripura from the clutches of drug peddlers and make an addiction-free state.
Police administration has already been asked to take stern action against the persons involved in dealing with drugs illegally,” he said.
