April 24, 2018: Outlining feature of a Shrestha Government, Chief Minister Biplab Deb today said that providing basic welfare services of the Government to the needy people is the main responsibility of the a government and a Shrestha Government must fulfill the aspirations of the needy people. “Needy people aspire to have a ration card, BPL card, Aadhaar Card, Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna, Toilets in residences, insurance facilities at Rs 12, road connectivity – 80 per cent of people are happy if they get these only”, said Chief Minister Biplab Deb while inaugurating a training programme at SIPARD today. He also said, his government is working to extend these facilities to needy people and bring the genuine beneficiaries under the Government welfare schemes.
State Administration has organized this 5-day training programme for ensuring discipline in administration and governance. Total 37 government Officials of 18 departments are attending the training camp. Chief Secretary Sanjieev Ranjan, DG K Nagraj and other officials also delivered speeches.
Extending greetings for Bengali New Year, Garia, Biju fests, the Chief Minister said, festivals of culture give us inspiration to do something new for the people of the State. He asserted, “Our Government is a government for 37 lakh people of the State – it will run not only by the cabinet ministers”. Outlining responsibilities of Government Officials, Biplab Deb said, Officials must understand people’s mind and their problems properly – they must have a proper mindset to understand people’s grievances and must deal people with compassion.
“Corruption of small magnitude destroys society and governance”, he said and added, Modi led Government is working for betterment of poorer section of the society and has implemented several welfare schemes. “The Central Government has augmented fund by 10 per cent and allowed the State government to function independently. The responsibility of the State Government is now to implement the Government schemes properly so that needy people get benefits without being harassed.
Criticizing LF regime, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, all the systems – Aadhaar Card, BPL card – collapsed. Previous government even politicized distribution of houses affecting common people. However he said, all the problems are now to be addressed by ourselves and for this purpose, professional skills will play important roles. He stressed upon improving work culture and importantly, we have to build up our mindset for overall improvement of governance and work culture, he said.
“Corruption and criminals have no caste – and our Government will not tolerate corruption. Our task is clear – we have to take welfare schemes to the last person”, he said and expressed that the training camp would bring necessary professionalism, skills etc.
