May 01, 2018: The International Labour Day was observed in Tripura today. In the morning, several frontal organizations affiliated to CPIM brought out rallies in different parts of the State and hoisted ‘Red Flag’ expressing solidarity with the labour class.
In the main programme, held at CPIM State Party Office in Agartala, State secretary of the Party Bijan Dhar hoisted the ‘Red Flag’ and later briefly focused upon significance of the Day. He said, CPIM will continue its struggle to safeguard interests of Labour class from aggression of imperialism and divisive force across the State and country.
Today’s May Day celebration lacked usual fun fare and huge attendance as was seen during Left Regime, said one veteran CPIM activist. He also added, “With Left Front Government out of power, large chunk of the support base eroded leaving the Party in lurch. Thin attendance in May Day celebration indicates – not only erosion in support base, but also presence of opportunists when the Party was in power”. In fact a large number of grass root CPIM supporters and activists alleged, opportunists tarnished the image of the Party and ultimately ousted from power.
