May 25, 2018: At least two CPIM leaders and an MLA were injured today near SDM Office, Belonia under South Tripura District when BJP workers allegedly resorted to indiscriminate stone pelting. The CPIM leaders were returning to their party office after submitting 5-point charter of demand to the SDM.
Among the injured Trilokesh Sinha, member of South District CPIM committee suffered serious injury as a stone hit his head directly. CPIM MLA of Rajnagar Sudhan Das and South Tripura CPIM secretary Tapas Dutta also suffered injuries in the stone pelting. According to report a CPIM delegation submitted deputation to the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Belonia demanding an end to post-poll violence, restoration of rule of law, suspension of Party Office demolition drive, compensation to flood victims.
As the reports of violence spread, panic prevailed and Police led by SP (South) Jal Singh Meena rushed to the spot with large contingent of Police forces.
