July 11, 2018: The State unit of BJP held a massive rally today in Agartala hailing Central Government’s decision to rename Agartala Airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur. The Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varman, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Social Welfare Minister Swantana Chakma and other leaders, MLAs marched through streets amid slogans thanking the Modi-led Government for renaming the Airport. Large number of tribal people – all over the state – took part in the rally. Thousands of BJP supporters started the rally today afternoon under scorching sun followed by a smart shower. Later, a public meeting was held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
“Maharaja Bir Bikram was the ‘architect’ of modern Tripura, the Maharaja had a dream to make Tripura ‘Sarvashresta’ – and ruling BJP is working in this direction to realize his dream”, said the Chief Minister Biplab Deb today while addressing the rally at Rabindra Bhavan. He also said, ruling BJP is eyeing to make the State self-reliant. “During Left rule, own income of the State stood at Rs 1200 crore – but we will double the income”, Deb commented. Reiterating his Government’s decision to make Tripura free from narcotics, Biplab Deb said, a resolution was adopted in recently concluded NEC meeting to make all the seven NE States free from the clutch of drugs. “I have urged the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to enhance strength of the security in NE region”, Deb said.
The Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varman paid gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and All India BJP President Amit Shah for helping the State to achieve growth rapidly – a noticeable change in the society including education, Financial sectors is palpable. “The State Government is tirelessly working to fulfill all the promises made in Vision Document”, the Deputy CM said.
