July 21, 2018: As the State Government is working hard to improve deplorable health care delivery system, efforts to set up multi-specialty AIIMS-like Hospital in Agartala has gained momentum. After the Chief Minister Biplab Deb recently visited a 200-acre land near Agartala Airport, today Biplab Deb and Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman along with high officials inspected the Tripura Medical College (TMC) at Hapania near Agartala and explored possibility of utilizing existing infra structure to set up AIIMS-like hospital. The visiting team focused on setting up AIIMS-like Hospital using existing facilities to expedite execution and slash down cost, sources said.
In his Facebook post, Sudip Roy Barman wrote, “Honorable Chief Minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, myself and high officials visited TMC & TIPS adjoining areas today to evaluate the possibility of converting /taking over TMC to AIIMS. This place would be convenient for the people and also cost effective and would be nearer to the people in terms of distance”.
