The Vice President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari has condoled the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in North-East India. In a message, Shri Ansari said every effort should be made to render all possible aid to the injured and the bereaved families.
Sources informed, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is actively monitoring the situation. NDRF teams have been rushed to affected areas.
“Spoke to Assam CM Sh. Tarun Gogoi and Manipur Chief Secretary regarding the situation post the earthquake. Assured them of all possible help”. MHA informed in a tweet. “Had a telephonic conversation with Manipur CM Shri Okram Ibobi Singh. I’m also contacting other North Eastern states to know the extent of damage caused by the earthquake. Centre is immediately sending two NDRF teams to Manipur by air” in other tweets Singh informed. He also informed, he has spoken to MoS Home Kiren Rijiju who is in Arunachal Pradesh. Kiren Rijiju will reach Imphal on Jan 4 afternoon to monitor the situation from Manipur.
Meanwhile, Assam CM Taron Gagoi said in his tweets, My prayers and thoughts with the people affected by earthquake in Manipur and elsewhere in North East. News agencies claimed that at least 8 people were killed and more than 100 people were injured so far.
