December 06, 2018: Leftists in Tripura held protest rally denouncing Babri Mosque demolition today in Agartala. Leftists observed the 26th anniversary of Babri Mosque demolition as a ‘Day of Constitution and protection of secularism”.
As part of the protest, CPIM-led Left Front supporters today held a rally in the capital. Led by Lok Sabha MP Jitendra Chaudhury in presence of former Ministers- Manik Dey and Tapan Chakraborty, hundreds of Left Front activists took to the streets and called for protection of secularism across the country.
“Communal polarization is being encouraged by RSS-BJP combine across the country. People have to strengthen their struggle against it”, said Left Front leaders.
“We take a pledge today that we will not let the country get divided. It is also our warning to the government. We urge the government to punish those responsible for the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya”, they added.
The Left Front called for observing the 26th anniversary as a day of constitution and protection of secularism to protest against the wilful demolition of the 16-century mosque. They held the then BJP government in Uttar Pradesh responsible for the demolition on December 6, 1992.
“An attack on the foundation of the republic nature of our country and the principles of the Constitution is being carried out by RSS-BJP combine. People must act against the intensification of assaults on opposition and dalits across the country”, urged the Left Front leaders.
