Agartala, February 12, 2019: Children of the State are likely to get an edutainment gift before Puja this year as State Government and ISRO are working on setting up a Space Museum. Presently the State lacks any science based museum covering mysteries of space – and the initiative will ignite inquisitive young minds.
The Museum will be housed at the present ‘Journey to Sun via Mars’ facility in the Academy, said Sudip Roy Barman, Science and Technology minister.

After meeting a team of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Roy Barman said, “ISRO will be submitting the project details within March this year and we hope that the project will be unveiled for children before the Puja this year.”
Two Associate Directors of ISRO – Raghu R and Jiwan Kumar Pandit along with other officials today called on the Science and Technology minister at his chamber and held a threadbare discussion about the proposed project.
The ISRO officials had already visited the existing structure of Journey to Sun via Mars and took the final decision in regards to establishment of space museum in the Sukanta Academy.
The vital meeting came on the heels of a proposal forwarded by the state government to install an ISRO run Space Museum in the state which will be the first of its kind project for the state.
“The meeting with ISRO officials was fruitful. The prestigious project will be implemented under the complete supervision and guidance of ISRO,” Roy Barman told the reporters while extending gratitude to the ISRO team for showing interest on this proposal.
“Such museums are very important for the state as it will encourage the student to learn how it feels to be an astronaut and live in the space. The planetarium that will be installed here will show case the process of launching rockets and many more,” Roy Barman said.
“The new project will be equipped with latest technologies to showcase the beautifulness of space world and implemented by using the non-functional existing set up of ‘Journey to Mars via Sun,” he added.
