Agartala, April 13, 2019Much to the relief of common people, aggrieved doctors have announced withdrawal of on-going agitation protesting assault on medical practitioner Dr Dipankar Debnath on wee hours of Thursday.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb assured the agitating doctors and said that culprits would not be spared. His words of assurance gained grounds after the High Court of Tripura, taking cognizance of emerging situation heard a government petition after Court timings at 9PM for the first time in the his history of Tripura and High Court stayed interim bail of 5 arrested persons.

“We have received assurances from Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman and both the Ministers have assured us of stern actions against the culprits involved in brutal assault on on-duty Dr Debnath at IGM on Thursday last”, top brass of All Tripura Govt Doctors’ Association (ATGDA) and IMA-Tripura Chapter told media today in Agartala and announced that on-going suspension of private health care delivery services have been withdrawn. They however, cautioned that doctors may resume agitation, if Government fails to implement its assurances.
In today’s press conference, general secretary of ATGDA Rajesh Choudhury, executive member of the Association, Kanak Choudhury along with president and secretary of IMA Tripura Chapter and other medical practioneers were present.
Speaking to media, ATGDA clearly stated that they were withdrawing their agitation reacting to Chief Minister’s appeal and assurances. All the private chambers, clinics and diagnostic services will resume services much to the relief of common people, particularly people of far flung areas.
