Agartala, April 21, 2019: While all eyes are focused on Lok Sabha Polls, hundreds of villagers living in far-flung areas in Gandacherra under Dhalai district are suffering from high fever. The situation is snowballing into epidemic like situation and urgent medical assistance is the need of the hour.
Lack of vehicles due to undergoing election process has made the situation worse as many suffering patients are reportedly unable to reach hospital and helplessly suffering at their huts without any medical treatment.
With the onset of dry spell, like previous years, this time again an epidemic like situation prevailed at Rajdhan Para under Kalyan Singh ADC village of Gandacherra subdivision, Located at 23 kilometers away from the sub-division headquarters under Dhalai district, 52 families belonging to Tripuri community reside in the village and most of the villagers are reportedly suffering since last few weeks.
According to reports, more than 100 patients had been already admitted to the Gandacherra sub-division hospital with high fever. Local sources said, many more inhabitants are unable to avail medical care due to lack of transport facilities for on-going LS poll process. “Due to the elections the vehicular service connecting remote areas like Kalyan Singh with Gandacherra has come to a halt. As a result, many of affected people residing in the area could not reach hospital for medical care”, said a relative of a patient.
