Agartala, April 30, 2019: The Election Commission seems to be gearing up re-polls in some of the polling stations under West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency which went into poll on April 11 last. A fax message from the Ministry of Home Affairs ordered special security arrangements for re-polls in Tripura, which put the administration security apparatus as well as media into a tizzy this evening.
According to the fax message, Election Commission of India (ECI) had requested to deploy CAPFs in Tripura for conducting free and fair re-polls in 131 polling stations of West seat. However, the letter did not mention any prospective dates for re-polling.

The letter said: Election Commission of India (ECI) has requested to deploy CAPFs in Tripura to conduct free and fair repoll in 131 polling stations in 1-Tripura Parliamentary Constituency.
“On the recommendations of ECI, deployment of 11 coys BSF is hereby ordered from Assam + 04 existing coys of CRPF (total 15 companies of CAPFs) for deployment in Tripura with immediate effect and till completion of polls,” the letter said.
The fax letter was signed by Mukesh Taterway Second-in Command (G), Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, was sent to Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and DGP Tripura today.
