Agartala, May 10, 2019: Beset with multifaceted problems people of Dabbari, Kathaltali and Sechuria villages under Dhalai in Tripura today appeared to have readying for confrontation with the administration and the ruling party as well.
One of the agitating local elders said, before the last assembly elections the BJP leaders promised them of better roads and better potable water facilities but no noticeable step has been taken to address the problems till date.
“The main problem of ours is drinking water and transport. There are tube-wells, wells and water supply connectivity but most of the sources of water are out of work. On the other hand, constructing a road that could connect Dabbari to Ambassa Bazar is a longstanding demand which was neither addressed in the Left nor in the time of new government” , he said.
All the three remote villages of Ambassa subdivision fall under Salema block of Dhalai district and were considered to be strong bastion of the CPM, at least till last year. During the assembly elections, people of the villages were assured of all the facilities they are deprived of. In order to make a strong statement, people of the villages today staged road blockade on Ambassa-Kamalpur highway. The road blockade that lasted for 2 hours brought the vehicular activities of the road to a standstill.
Police officials of Kachucherra and Salema police station swung into action and several leaders of the local mandal also went to the spot and attempted to convince the locals. Later on, the road blockade that started 7 am in the morning ended at around 9 am after intervention of police forces but, the agitators also gave an ultimatum of one month to resolve their issues.
