Agartala, Jun 06, 2019: Amid widespread speculation about possible defection of MLAs of Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), its president NC Debbarma rubbished the rumours today in Agartala. In a press meet, NC Debbarma said, no such move is there in the Party.
IPFT is an ally of ruling BJP in Tripura – however, the Party contested in both the LS seats of the State in ‘friendly’ contests. In the polls, IPFT performed poorly paving way for speculations.
Speaking to the media persons at Agartala Press Club today, he refuted rumours and denied of any move by IPFT MLAs to quit the Party and join BJP. He said, it is widely reported that IPFT legislatures are set to leave the party and join BJP – however, such news items have no factual ground and no one of the party is leaving IPFT.
Re-affirming his faith on Party MLAs, NC Debbarma expressed hope that alliance with BJP would continue. He said, several regional parties are in coalition with the BJP in the North Eastern region. “I feel this fruitful partnership will continue for long. I do not think, being a responsible national party the BJP will try to gobble up its own partners”, he said.
