Tripura: BSF jawan commits suicide

Agartala, June 19, 2019: One BSF jawan of 66-battalion reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself late last night in Sabroom under South Tripura district. The deceased jawan was identified as Surajit Singh (39) – he hailed from Jandrari village under Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said, the jawan was deployed near Pheni River Bridge of Sabroom BOP and allegedly shot himself with his service rifle when he was on duty last night. Alerted after the sound of firing, Jawans from nearby BOPs rushed to the spot and found Surajit Singh seriously injured. He was taken to Sabroom Hospital where an on-duty doctor pronounced him brought dead. After post mortem, the body of the deceased jawan will be sent to his home in Jandrari.
