Agartala, June 24, 2019: A 5-member team of ADB led by an expert relating to Urban development Pedro Aalmeida met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at Civil secretariat in Agartala today and discussed about issues relating to Agartala Smart City Mission as well as North Eastern Economic Corridor and infrastructure. The visiting delegation opined, Tripura will play a crucial role in making the North Eastern Region an economic corridor to South East Asia. The ADB team hailed the Chief Minister’s efforts in making Tripura a gateway to Southeast Asia.
The ADB team emphasized on North East economic corridor and expressed satisfaction over infrastructural development in districts.
“The ADB team apprised the Chief Minister of various projects for enhancing connectivity among NER States including Tripura and South East Asia”, sources said and added, the NE Corridor will not only create bigger horizon for economic activities, also will act as a catalyst in cementing India’s relationship with South East Asian countries as well.
“The Corridor will play remarkable role in improving economic condition of both the regions and will enhance international relation – and, being the Gateway to SE Asia, Tripura will have also have immense scope to flourishing economic activities”, sources commented.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb requested the ADB team to review issues pertaining to making the State a ‘Logistic Hub’. During the discussion Addl Chief secretary Kumar Alok highlighted drinking water, power supply, tourism, Street Food Hygienic Certification system etc and discussed about related issues.
