Agartala, Jun 27, 2019: Tripura secured top position in terms of incremental performance in Healthcare delivery as per the latest NITI Aayog Health Care Index of States and UTs 2017-18 among the small states category. However, with overall performance index (46.38) – still below 50 points, Tripura is in ‘Aspirants’ category. Among the larger States, Assam also put up good show.
Manipur is in the second position in incremental performance category. NITI Aayog Health Care Index finds Mizoram as the best performing State in smaller states category. On the darker side, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh witnessed decrease in overall Health Index score.
According to the report, Tripura witnessed an increase of 2.87 points from 43.51 in 2015-16 to 46.38 in 2017-18 in overall performance. Manipur witnessed an increase of 2.82 points during the same period.
On the other side, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh witnessed decrease in over health index by 2.70 points and 3.44 points respectively. Other NE States, for Nagaland – overall Health Index improved by 1.13 points and Megalaya witnessed a fall in the Index by 0.88 point.
Assam, which is categorised as one of the larger states became one of the most improved states in health with 4.8 points increase. Since 2018, its overall rank improved from 16 to 15 amongst large state.
