Agartala, July 14, 2019: Left Front committee of Tripura accused BJP of intimidating opposition in the run up to three tier Panchayat polls slated to be held on July 27 next. Convener of Tripura Left Front, Bijan Dhar pointed fingers at BJP for making the polls farcical. He said, LF will stage protest in several areas in Agartala from July 18 condemning ruling Party’s action. Speaking to media Dhar listed out several instances justifying his allegation against the saffron party.
Based on last Assembly poll results, Left Front – in reality CPIM is the principal opposition. But, leaders or MLAs of CPIM failed to put up any effective opposition against ruling BJP. With every passing day, CPIM is conceding ground to either BJP or Congress. In last Assembly Polls, Congress was white washed – but revived to emerged main opposition party during and after recent Lok Sabha Polls – relegating CPIM to third position.
In Panchayat Polls also, Congress seems to be much ahead in terms of contesting candidates and mass-reach cum campaign programmes. While, Congress chief and other leaders are holding meetings in villages, CPIM leaders are crying against BJP sitting in press conference. “However, it is good to listen that at last, LF will, at least, hold agitations – rather than bashing the ruling party sitting at its Party office”, one of youth CPIM supporters commented.
