Agartala, July 19, 2019: Mahila Morcha of BJP, responding to humanitarian call, extended help hands to a hapless minor girl in Tripura today. A 16-year old girl was seen wandering alone at Dharmanagar Railway station in North Tripura tonight at around 8pm. As patrolling RPF personnel noticed the girl and started interrogating her, a sordid saga of torture was unfolded.
It is learnt, mother of the minor girl – Priya Nath died few months earlier, her father is a tea seller at Silchar Railway Station. She was staying at a house of her relatives. But the relatives were, allegedly abusive and tortured her mercilessly. Unable to tolerate anymore, she fled from the house and reached Dharmanagar Station to board Silchar bound train. She was desperate to meet her father at Silchar. However, she was unaware that there was no such train at that time. Puzzled, she was aimlessly wandering at Dharmanagar Station.
As the RPF personnel was interrogating the girl, president of Dharmanagar Mahila Morcha Rupali Adhikari rushed to the spot. She made arrangement for her safe staying at Child Line centre in Jalebasha. “Due to Adhikari’s proactive role, the girl found a place at Child line tonight, otherwise she would find it difficult to find a place for night stay. Moreover, after learning about the plight of the girl, Rupali Adhikari ensured that no one can take girl’s custody with producing proper documents. The move is surely taken up to save the victim from the clutches of her relatives who tortured her”, local people said and sighted relief.
