Agartala, September 20, 2019: Political mercury soared high as ruling party, BJP and Opposition parties held election rallies in support of respective party candidates in upcoming By-poll at Badharghat Assembly seat at the outskirts of Agartala.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today led a high-voltage campaign in support of Mimi Majumder, party’s candidate. The Chief Minister, who is also the BJP state president, accompanied by some of the party leaders joined a road show at Badharghat and sought vote in favour of the party candidate.
Along with Deb, hundreds of party activists mostly from Yuba Morcha and Mahila Morcha rallied for Mimi Majumder today. Some of the local people, who were watching the road show at various patches of the route, said Badharghat never witnessed such an impressive campaign before.
“Today’s campaign is an indication that BJP is going to secure a spectacular win with huge margin that may break all-time record in the constituency,” Speaking to media, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb exuded confidence that BJP candidate would win the by-poll in record votes.
Opposition parties – both the CPIM and Congress too held separate rallies today. While CPIM campaigned for its candidate Bulti Biswas, Congress leaders pitched hard for its candidate. Slamming the ruling BJP-led Government, Opposition leaders claimed that people of Badharghat would give BJP a befitting reply for its ‘failure’ on multiple fronts.
