Agartala, September 28, 2019: Bamboo sector of Tripura is expected to receive a major boost as more than 25 investors will hold extensive discussions on September 30 next to explore prospect and potentiality of State Bamboo sector. Moreover, in a separate programme on the same day, Bamboo artisans of the State will get to extend their market reach by registration in Central government’s e-marketing portals.
The ‘Tripura Artesian Conclave’ and ‘Bamboo Investors Meet’ would be held in Agartala on September 30 next.
According to official sources, over 25 investors in bamboo sector would participate in the summit.
The investors’ meet – scheduled to be held at State Guest House – is expected to hold discussions on the prospects and potentials of bamboo sector, mainly focusing on the avenues for value addition and industrial products.
Prior to the Meet, a factory visit has been arranged at Rubber Wood Factory, Nagichhera of TFDPC Ltd. and BCDI, Agartala. R.K Mathur, Vice Chairman, State Planning Board and Adviser to Chief Minister would lead the visiting Team.
An official release said a team of investors already visited Yakam Project (A Value Addition Centre), a Bamboo Corrugated sheet and bamboo mat ply wood factory at Khumulwang, TTAADC today.
Meanwhile a Bamboo Artisan Conclave would also be organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on September 30. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb would inaugurate the conclave in presence of Forest Minister and other dignitaries. Over 1500 artisans, bamboo growers from all over the state are expected to attend the conclave.
Apart from this, an exhibition on various handicrafts and other bamboo based products would be there outside the hall. Besides, Help Desks would be opened in the venue to appraise the artisans about Schemes of National Bamboo Mission and to help the artisan for online Registration in the Government E-marketing (GeM) portal.
Besides, Development Commission (Handicrafts), Government of India would register the artisans for “Pehechan Card” (Artisan Card). Ceremonial distribution of Toolkits to bamboo artisans would be organized under the aegis of National Bamboo Mission.
The Government of India has launched the National Bamboo Mission scheme, through which overall development of bamboo sector would be promoted. In Tripura, Tripura Bamboo Mission will coordinate implementation of the scheme throughout the State which would include nursery development, High density bamboo plantation, creation of marketing infrastructure, product development & design, skill development and training of artisans under National Bamboo Mission.
With all these initiatives of both the Central Government and State Government, it is expected that bamboo sector will be the sunrise sector in the state and would play the lead role in development of rural economy.
