Agartala, December 10, 2019: Large scale violence and rampant vandalism marked the second day of anti-CAB strike called by Joint Movement Against CAB (JMACAB) supporters. At least three Police personnel and several others were injured as violent picketers pelted stones and attacked traders with blunt weapons. Several vehicles were torched at different places. One DSP (DIB) was also grievously injured at Jatanbari under Gomati district. Bandh left normal life crippled. Administration clamped CrPC 144 in Kanchanpur and several other areas under Bishramganj. Mobile Internet services including SMS stopped across the State as rumour mongers jumped in adding more confusion.
Bandh supporters squatted on roads and blocked traffic movement at North Gate in Agartala. Students and common people had to face difficulty.
Speaking about the violence during a strike, leaders of JMACAB accepted that there were reports of violence in several areas.
Bandh supporters created mayhem and unleashed violence in areas covering Dewan Bazar to Warengbari under Bishramganj today. Sources said, picketers resorted to large-scale violence and pelted stones at security personnel and locals. At least three Police personnel were injured.
Administration clamped Sec 144 at Dewan Bazar to quell the tension.
bandh supporters resorted to violence at Manu, Kulai, Dalubari and other areas of Dhalai. At Manu, picketers vandalized shops, created mayhem at market areas and attacked traders. Around 60 bike-borne bandh supporters arrived at Kulai market and asked the traders to shut their shops. Police swung into action immediately and chased picketers.
Violence marred the anti-CAB bandh in Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura district. Section 144 was clamped in the sub-division. At least 13 persons were injured and one of them was shifted to Dharmanagar Hospital with serious injuries. Several shops were ransacked and looted at Anandabazar area. Dasda too witnessed violence.
