On 10323 ad hoc teachers’ issue who will lose job after March 31, Tripura Government will move the Apex Court for recruiting the teachers in other vacant posts
Agartala, Marche 19, 2020: Tripura Government made a significant announcement for 10323 ad hoc teachers who would be terminated from Job on March 31 as per Supreme Court directives. The Government will make move to arrange alternative arrangement for these ad hoc teachers on ‘humanitarian’ ground.
“The state government would file a special petition in the Supreme Court seeking permission for recruitment of 10,323 ad-hoc teachers in vacant posts of other departments as an alternative. The decision was taken in a special cabinet meeting today”, State Education Minister Ratanlal Nath told the Media at Civil Secretariat.
State cabinet decision on ad hoc teachers
“8882 among the 10323 teachers are now in service as ad hoc teachers. The figure includes 4375 Under Graduate Teachers, 3761 Graduate Teachers and 746 Post Graduate Teachers,” Nath said.
As per the decision taken in the special cabinet meeting, the state government would file an Interlocutory Application in the Apex Court on humanitarian ground for their recruitment in the vacant posts (Group-C and D, non-technical) of other departments including fishery assistant, Panchayat Secretary and LD assistant as per their eligibility, he said adding that the teachers would be given relaxation in age and other fields.
While announcing the cabinet decision, the Education minister also said that the then Left Front government was responsible for the dismissal of teachers’ jobs.
Govt to move Apex Court on Humanitarian ground
But, fulfilling the promises made in the Vision Document, when the BJP-IPFT government knocked Supreme Court’s door, the tenure of the teachers was extended for around two years (ad hoc teachers), he said.
Now, considering the humanitarian ground, the state government has taken the decision to move the Apex Court for seeking permission about recruitment of ad hoc teachers in vacant posts of other departments after their job tenure is over.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Tripura had terminated the jobs of 10323 teachers on account of unfair recruitment process on May 7, 2014. The verdict was then upheld by the Supreme Court on March 3, 2017 last.
