Dial 102 helpline for ambulance has ushered new hope especially among the people living in remote areas. In true sense this service has become a boon for many hapless expectant mothers.

Once again, prompt response from the ambulance helpline- 102 has came to aid of a pregnant woman. It ensured a safe delivery to a pregnant woman who was in critical condition and saved two lives in a remote part of Tripura on Thursday night.

There was a call on the helpline 102 after Abirung Reang, the pregnant woman, was referred from Ganganagar PHC to Dhalai district hospital around 10:40 pm.

An ambulance picked up the pregnant woman soon after receiving the call.

On the way to Dhalai district hospital, the woman felt severe labour pain. Sensing problem, the ambulance driver-  Pranesh Debbarma immediately stopped the vehicle. It was now turn of Dwijendra Tripura, an emergency medical technician. He was accompanying the woman. Dwijendra did not waste time but conducted a safe delivery – a feeble cry of the new born pierced through the silence of night. Credit goes to Pranesh and Dwijendra for saving two lives.

After successful delivery, all of them returned to Ganganagar PHC. Both the mother and the new born are in good health condition now at Ganganagar PHC.

Happy with the news that both the woman and new born born baby are doing well, family members of the woman felt overwhelming and expressed happiness and satisfaction as they got timely response from the helpline.

According to district coordinator Bhabatosh Das, anybody can dial 102 for availing the ambulance service in any emergency case (24×7) from any corner of the state.
