Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb stressed on PM Modi’s mantra – ‘Vocal for local’ – in expanding power supply services in the State. Chairing a review meeting of Power department today, Deb directed concerned officials to focus on utilizing the local resources for different works of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) including repairing transformers at local level. He also asked the TSECL Officials to work for starting manufacture transformers in the State.
“Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) should prepare a list of instruments that would be required in next five years by the department for its own uses. The State Government would encourage youth of the State to set up small industrial units and include them for supplying the instruments. This ‘local’ approach would strengthen the economy of the State as well as create job opportunities among the youth”, Deb said.
Besides, the Chief Minister also emphasized on harnessing work efficiency of the TSECL staffs and installing CCTV as well as arranging adequate lighting in sub-stations. He directed the TSECL officials to ensure that electricity facility reaches to maximum number of people. He also reviewed centrally sponsored schemes in the State and directed to expedite implementation of solar power project. Deb also directed the Officials to expand ambit Solar Power facility to cover greater section of the society. In this connection he emphasized on awareness drive on Solar Power schemes.
“It is important that both the TSECL and DWS work in tandem so that functioning of Deep tube wells does not get affected due to shortage or lack of electricity.
Among others Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma who also holds Power portfolio also discussed on multiple issues. MD of TSECL Dr MS Kele appraised the Chief Minister of details of CSS implementation.
