Tripura Government is continuing with its initiative of felicitating community heads of different Indigenous communities. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb felicitated community heads of Mog, Jamatia and Molsom communities in two separate programmes.
In a felicitation programme in South Tripura on Monday, Deb announced, the Samajpatis (community heads) of all Janajati (indigenous) communities will now get government recognition and honorarium. He said this felicitating Surela Mog, Samajpati of Mog community, at Manu Bankul Dhamma Dipa School ground.
The Chief Minister also said, for the first time, Samajpati of Janajati communities of Tripura are being felicitated by the State Government and he is feeling proud to felicitate the Samajpatis.
Deb said that fulfilling the long-standing demand of Mog Community, the state government had already allotted 25 acre land for setting up of an International Buddhist University at Manubankul for expansion of education facilities. Once construction of the International Buddhist University completes, students from Tibet, Japan and Bangladesh will come to study at the University, he said.
Deb had attended a separate programme at Killa of Udaipur where the Community heads of Jamatia and Malsoom communities were felicitated. In the programme, Deb felicitated Jamatia Akras Pulindra Kumar Jamatia and Padmalila Jamatia. He also felicitated Samajpati of Molsom community, Rai Madan Hari Molsom in the same programme..
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had met the Samajpatis of seven Janajati communities in the past 48 hours. Deb said that he was happy to learn that all the Samajpatis were thinking about development of their communities. Later, in a social media post, Deb said that he was feeling proud to felicitate Kshatriya, Chakma, Tripura, Mog, Reang, Jamatia and Malsoom communities.
“Felicitation of the community heads should have been done long time ago. But, the tradition and culture of Janajati people were not given recognition. It’s a matter of pride that our government is taking such initiative,” Deb told the gathering.
