Hundreds of teary-eyed people joined the fallen CRPF soldier Mangaram Debbarma during his last journey on Saturday.
A stark silence prevailed all around and tears welled up in the eyes of every villager when the coffin carrying mortal remains of Mangaram, wrapped in Tricolour, was brought to his native village at Rambabu Para Taidu Police Station in Gomati district.
A heart-wrenching cry of the widow- Madhumala Debbarma and three children- Rajeswar, Shrimila and Susimi then pierced the silence and the ambience became more emotionally charged.
The braveheart was laid to final rest followed by the rituals amid a deep pall of gloom descended on the village. The supreme sacrifice of Mangaram made his family members, relatives and hundreds of people from the village with heavy hearts held their heads high.
As soon as the body reached Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport on Saturday morning, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, MP Pratima Bhowmik, IGP CRPF Tripura Sector- Satpal Rawat, DM West Tripura Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav, Director of MBB Airport Rajiv Kapoor, SDM Sadar Ashim Saha and many others paid tribute to the braveson. They also expressed their deep sympathy towards the bereaved family.
Later speaking to the media, the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced Rs. 5 lakh for the martyr’s family. He also assured all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
While paying respect to the martyr, Deb said the supreme sacrifice made by Mangaram in service to the nation would not go in vain. The other people present on the scene also saluted the bravery and courage of the fallen Hero.
Meanwhile, Mangaram Debbarma, who was a Sub-Inspector posted in 73rd-Bn CRPF, and his colleague were gunned down by the militants in Srinagar on Thursday last. He had joined CRPF in 1988. He was promoted as Sub-Inspector on February 26, this year.
