Agartala Press club paid rich tributes on Saturday to Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, a Pulitzer Prize winner. Siddiqui was killed on Thursday night at Kandahar in Afghanistan on Friday while on a reporting assignment. Siddiqui was a resident of Delhi. He was with the Afghan forces.
“We mourn killing of Siddiqui while discharging his duties in trouble torn Afghanistan. He was an acclaimed photojournalist and he was conferred Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for his works on Rohingyas”, Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarkar said this.
Media fraternity of Agartala assembled at Agartala press club today morning. They lit candles in the memory of Siddiqui and offered floral tributes.
Meanwhile, condolences for Danish Siddiqui were pouring in different parts of the States. Media bodies also condemned the killing and condoled the bereaved family members.
