Veteran advocate of Tripura, Kalyan Narayan Bhattacharjee took oath as the Lokayukta at Raj Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday.
Bhattacharjee was administered the oath of office by Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya in presence of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and many other dignitaries.
After taking the oath, Bhattacharjee said he would sincerely work with an impartial view as per the Constitution and the Lokayukta Act.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said Lokayukta is a part of the Indian Constitution and he expressed that the new Lokayukta would work for strengthening the democratic system for the welfare of the people.
Revenue minister N.C. Debbarma, Education minister Ratanlal Nath, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Rebati Mohan Das, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, Director General of Police V.S. Yadav and others were present in the swearing-in ceremony.
