One day after CPM State secretary Gautam Das denied possibility of understanding with the TMC, State president of BJP, Dr Manik Saha apprehended the opposite. Apparently, it appears CPM’s, often puzzling’ alliance policy caused Dr Saha to apprehend that there is something like a ‘secret tie’ between the TMC and the CPM in Tripura.

CPM did not hesitate to join hands with Congress in West Bengal in the battle against TMC, however, it Tripura and Kerala, Congress was the arch rival. CPM leaders proudly claim them to be secular – however, it remained unclear to many Left supporters as to how CPM could forge an alliance in Bengal with Furfhura Sharif cleric Abbas Siddiqui’s ISF.

With Politburo general secretary, Sitaram Yechury saying in Bengal that BJP is the main rival of CPM, doubts of some sorts of understanding between BJP’s common enemy CPM and TMC seem to be logical.

The issue of secrete tie between CPM and TMC, gained some grounds as CPM is fast losing its ground in Tripura. After being whitewashed in Bengal and in TTAADC in Tripura, CPM is staring at another whitewash in 2023 Assembly polls. Prone to repeated historic blunder, no one can rule out the possibility of committing some more blunders by the leftists.

Hinting at possible ‘secret tie’ between CPM and TMC Dr Saha while addressing a press meet on Friday said, “It seems, as the CPM drastically has lost its base in Tripura and West Bengal, the party is now extending under-table support to the TMC. However, our party is strong enough; we are not at all concerned about TMC in the state”.

The BJP state president termed the TMC as a carbon copy of CPM and alleged that the party was trying to create unrest in the same way the CPM had followed it for a long time.

Speaking about his Delhi visit along with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar, Dr. Saha said that they had a meeting with the central leaders including BJP president J.P. Nadda, general secretary (organization) B.L. Santosh and party’s Tripura observer Vinod Sonkar.

“The discussions included organizational status as well as the administrative works,” he said and hinted that the recent political developments in the state were also discussed in the meeting with the party’s central leaders.

Replying to a query, Dr. Saha clearly stated that neither there was any discussion for changing the Chief Minister nor there was any possibility for the same.

On being asked about the party’s stand over the delay in the AMC elections due to the Corona pandemic, Dr. Saha said, “BJP is fully prepared to go to the AMC polls. We are now waiting for the announcement from the Election Commission.”

Giving reaction over the TMC’s recent political activities in the state, Dr. Saha said that the party would politically fight the Trinamool congress’ activities in the state. He also warned that the party would handle any kind of violence in a different way.

“We welcome anyone who comes here for politics. There is no obstruction. We will deal with it politically. But if anyone spreads violence in the name of politics then the party will deal with it in a different way,” Dr. Saha said in a tone of warning.

He pointed out that the TMC’s activities in Tripura were only meant for coverage in national media.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Saha strongly countered the TMC’s allegation of not getting permission for party programmes.

“TMC doesn’t have any member even in the booth committee. They are unable to hold programmes due to shortage of people,” he said.

BJP state spokesman Subrata Chakraborty was also present in the press conference.
