The 113th Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya – the last King of Manikya dynasty and the 185th king of Tripura – was celebrated across the State on Thursday. Several programmes were held in the districts and sub-divisions to commemorate the Day. Along with the Government institutions, several private organizations and political parties also observed the birth anniversary of the Maharaja with solemnity.
In Agartala, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram was celebrated at the BJP party office today. Leaders of the party paid floral tributes to the Maharaja.
Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders assembled at the Congress Party office in Agartala today and paid floral tributes to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. The leaders also recalled the contributions of the Maharaja.
The Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram was celebrated in Kumarghat and Longtharai sub-divisions. However, some miscreants created chaos at Manikpur while locals were celebrating the Day. According to the Samajpatis, a group of unruly youths attacked them and local people at Manikpur. Several people were injured. The Samajpatis alleged the youths belong to the ruling party. An FIR against six indigenous youths was lodged in this connection.
With the initiative of the Dhalai District ICA department and Dhalai Zila Parishad, the district level celebration of the birth anniversary was held at Gandachhera HS+2 School today. Supporters of Tipra Motha held a rally and a public meeting in Gandachhera as part of the celebration.

Tripura state legislative assembly deputy speaker Bishwabandhu Sen along with others took part in the function held at Rajbari at Dharmanagar city and paid rich tribute to the modern architect of Tripura – Maharaja Bir Bikram.
Sen during the function had said that the government is putting an utmost effort in promoting the language, culture and literature of the tribes in the state.
People of Noagangi ADC village celebrated the Birth Anniversary of the Maharaja in a colourful manner. Boys and girls staged traditional dance programmes and cultural programmes. During the celebration, Rs 5000 were given to each of the elderly residents. Besides, Rs 20,000 were given to one woman business person while 1400 indigenous people belonging to BPL or Antyodaya categories received one kg thread for weaving purposes.
