The Undergraduate students of MBB and BBMC colleges demanded early conduct of examinations of the final year which were postponed and release of the graduation certificates. Citing examples of other Universities and institutions, the students said the delay in getting certificates will impede pursuing their higher studies.
The undergraduate students on Wednesday gathered in front of the office of the Directorate of Higher Education in Agartala and demanded early completion of their examinations which were postponed in view of the COVID pandemic.
The students submitted a memorandum with the Director and demanded to grant them certificates of graduation by the month of September by conducting any of the methods of examinations at the earliest. They demanded the government to move in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC and conduct their examinations and provide them with their graduation certificates by September this year.
They said that they were supposed to be graduated by the month of June this year, but due to the pandemic situation, their examinations were postponed. In addition to that, in the last meeting of the MBB University, the examinations were decided to be held between August 31 and September 4, but no announcements or notification to this end has come up so far, the students said.
The students expressed concern over the delay in conducting their postponed examinations as this may cause difficulties in pursuing their higher studies.
“We have seen that the ICFAI University and other such colleges in the state had already promoted undergraduate students, but we the students of different degree colleges of the state are being deprived of timely examinations and promotion,” the agitating students said.
