The Tripura Pradesh BJP came down heavily on CPM for resorting to violence at Dhanpur on Monday to show its strength and said BJP is capable to pay them in same coin.

In a prompt and unequivocal reaction, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury blamed Opposition leader Manik Sarkar for the violence.

He said, BJP will hold a ‘massive’ rally on September 8 next at Kanthalia market to condemn today’s violence.

Addressing a press meet in Agartala on Monday, Chowdhury said, “BJP workers will assemble at Kanthalia market in large number on September 8 next to condemn the violence unleashed by the CPM”.

He made it clear that BJP believes in democracy, not in violence. However, he cautioned, if situation demands we are ready to get a reply in a language that CPM understands. Chowdhury continued and said, if CPM thinks that BJP workers are weak, they are wrong.

Blazing all guns, Chowdhury said, today’s aggression by CPM workers suggests that they want to create political disturbances in the State before the Assembly polls. People of the State have decisively rejected the CPM and not responding to their calls. So, they have decided to create violent atmosphere and try to take advantage.

Sushanta Chowdhury in the press meet clearly conveyed the message to the Opposition camp that violence as a mark of show of strength will be able to scare the BJP workers. The protest rally on September 8 will prove this.

Referring to Monday’s political clash, Chowdhury said at least twelve party workers were injured in the incident and an FIR was lodged.

BJP state spokesman Subrata Chakraborty was also present in the press conference.
