The Central Government will take initiative to document the information about medicinal plants and ayurvedic medicines used traditionally by the indigenous communities of Tripura.
Union Minister of State (MoS) for Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Women & Child Development, Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai said after visiting the Regional Ayurveda Research Centre (RARC) in Agartala on Wednesday. Dr Mahendrabhai arrived in Agartala in a two-day Tripura visit today.
He said, “Ayush Ministry will initiate action for documentation of medicinal plants and ayurvedic medicines which are being used traditionally by indigenous communities of Tripura”.
The Union Minister reviewed different research activities and OPD services at the RARC.
The RARC was established on March 7, 2019 as one of the 31 centres under the Central Council for Research In Ayurvedic Sciences ( CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH. It is also the 5th such centre in North-East region to promote research activities on Ayurevda.
The centre provides general OPD service with free consultation and medicines as well it is engaged in several activities like implementing Tribal Health Care Research project under TSP through mobile van and incorporating clinical trials under IMR scheme.
Dr Mahendrabhai said, the Union Government has accorded importance on expansion of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani etc. under the Ayush Ministry as part of the observance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He said, the Ministry is emphasizing improvement and expansion of ambit of such kind of treatment facilities.
He urged people to avail these treatment facilities as these are much less expensive. Besides, he also suggested people to do some exercises any time in a day to keep the body and mind fit and healthy.
Dr. Mahendrabhai emphasized the treatment of malaria, anaemia, osteoarthritis etc. using Ayurvedic medicines apart from holistic treatment for health care.
