Protests and condemnation continue to pour in over the recent attacks on Hindus, Durga Puja Pandals and temples in parts of Bangladesh. Several socio-political organizations and individuals in Tripura are continuing to denounce the mindless communal violence unleashed by unidentified miscreants in Bangladesh against the Hindus.
A group of people under the banner of ‘Sanatan Hindu Dharma’ held a demonstration in front of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala on Monday. Holding placards, the demonstrators vehemently condemned the Bangla violence against Hindus and demanded exemplary punishment of the perpetrators as well as security of minority people living in Bangladesh.
In a social media post, BJP MLA Krishnadhan Das in his personal capacity vehemently denounced the ‘inhuman’ attack on Hindu people in Bangladesh.
“I strongly condemn the inhuman attack on the followers of Sanatan Dharma at Dhaka, Comilla and Noakhali in Bangladesh during the Durga Puja that symbolizes destruction of demons and evil forces”, Das said.
Commenting on the controversy that purportedly angered the Muslim people of Bangladesh, Das said, Hindus worship trees as gods, clay idol as ‘God and goddess’ – how can Hindus insult the holy Quran.
He continued and said, “Even as where Hindu people constitute 75 percent of the total population, no Hindu show disrespect to Quran or for that matter any other religion and religious sentiments, how can they disrespect the Holy Quran in Bangladesh where only eight percent of population constitutes Hindus”.
He appealed to the fanatics who were mentally and physically involved in attack on Hindus to understand this simple thing.
Das also urged people of the society irrespective of religion to stay alert against ‘Anti-humanity’ forces.
In a separate video message, Imam of Agartala Town Mosque and Muhtamim of Bishalgarh Jamia Madania Darul Uloom Madrasa, Muhtamim Abdur Rahman Kasemi also condemned the violence against Hindu minority community in Bangladesh.
He said, “We strongly denounce the violence in Bangladesh. A true Muslim cannot attack followers of other religions as well as a true Muslim cannot show disrespect to the Quran by keeping it in a Puja Pandal. Similarly, a true follower of Hinduism cannot taint his Puja with a Quran on the feet of the idols”.
Kasemi continued and said, “Those who were involved with such heinous activities in Bangladesh during the festive time cannot be called religious in any sense. We sincerely condemn such acts of violence and hoping that Bangladesh Government will take stern actions against the perpetrators”.
Devotees of Ramthakur at Amarpur and members of Arunachal Sangha of Rajarbag in Udaipur also held demonstrations on Sunday condemning the violence in Bangladesh.
