Some anti-national elements are spreading fake news and rumour about communal tension in Tripura by using fake ID on Twitter and Facebook, a government press release read on Thursday.
The press release further mentioned, pictures used to spread this kind of fake news and rumour on social media have no connection with the incident of Panisagar. It is worth mentioning that no incident of fire at the mosque took place during the protest rally at Panisagar of North Tripura district on October 25. The Tripura police administration has informed that the law and order situation is normal in the state.
“IGP, Tripura police, Saurabh Tripathi said, the pictures being used to spread such fake news and rumour may relate to some other countries. The police are probing into as to who has uploaded this. He has appealed to the people of the state to ignore such fake news and pictures. He said, (a) case has been registered in this regard and legal action will be taken again whoever has done it. Some people with vested interest are trying to disturb the communal peace in the state”, the press release read.
The state government has requested the people of the state to co-operate in maintaining law and order and a peaceful environment and appealing to maintain communal harmony in the state. Meanwhile,
Tripura Police uploaded a couple of videos and a photo of the mosque in Panisagar area in its tweet messages.
In a tweet, Tripura Police said, “Tripura Police appeals to all not to spread rumours regarding Panisagar incident. Please do not retweet or like the social media post without verification since it amounts to endorsing the view. Law and Order situation is under control in the state”.
Tripura Police also posted a photo of the mosque on Thursday in Panisagar area under the North Tripura district with a message that the mosque is in normal condition as well as safe and secure.
