One cattle lifter was lynched at Kamalnagar area under Sonamura Police station in Tripura.
The incident took place at the intervening nights of Friday and Saturday. The deceased cattle lifter is reported to be a Bangladeshi national.
A group of cattle lifters barged into the house of one Babul Pal. As the thieves tried to break open the doors of his cow shed, Babul Pal raised an alarm. Soon villagers surrounded the thieves – while two of them managed to flee, the third one was lynched. The body of the thief was left behind by the side of Boxanagar-Sonamura road.

According to villagers, before dying, the thief told them that he and his accomplices hailed from Jambari area under Cumilla district in Bangladesh.
Miscreants damaged BJP festoon, flags
Unidentified miscreants damaged the campaign materials like posters, flexes of BJP at Belonia in South Tripura on Friday night.
“Some miscreants tore down the festoons and flexes put up in support of BJP nominated candidatesin Ward numbers 3 and 4 for upcoming Civic Body Polls”, local Mandal president of BJP alleged.
Condemning the act, the Mandal president also said, after noticing large crowds in Booth inauguration programmes, Opposition parties have become frustrated. By tearing down our campaign materials they tried to vent their growing frustration. “I strongly condemn such activities. Those who are doing such things, we appeal to them to refrain from repeating such act. We will not fall in the trap of miscreants”, he asserted.
He also urged people to stay alert and thwart any mischievous plan of disrupting peace and developmental initiative in Belonia. He appealed to all to support BJP in upcoming Civic Body Polls to ensure uninterrupted flow of development.
