Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of new Eklavya Model Residential Schools across the country including one at Purba Machli under Manu RD Block of Dhalai district through the virtual mode from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on Monday (November 15 last) on the occasion of Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
MLA Sambhulal Chakma and TTAADC MDC Sanjoy Das were present at the foundation laying ceremony.
It is worth mentioning that with the objective of ensuring quality education for the students of indigenous communities living in the interior areas, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India decided to set up more than 400 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools across the country by 2022.
As a part of this, new Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being set up in Tripura also.
Besides providing quality education to the tribal students, emphasis will also be given to various co-curricular activities such as music, dance and sports etc. Director of Tribal Welfare Department Dr Vishal Kumar said in a press release.
