Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb came down heavily on Trinamool Congress without naming the party and made an appeal to the people not to be misguided.
While addressing election rallies in two places on Saturday, Deb said, all elements involved in illegal activities like drugs smuggling in Tripura joined hands together in Kolkata and funded that party to create disturbance in Tripura.
He cautioned, “there is no place for mafia-raj, gunda-raj, cattle smuggling, coal smuggling and other smuggling business in Tripura; 37 lakhs people of Tripura are with Biplab Kumar Deb and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Deb was speaking at an election campaign programme at Ashram Chowmuhani of the city.
He said, any attempt to disrupt the peace by mischief and threats would not be allowed.
In a reference to I-PAC’s survey, Deb said, “calls are being made to misguide the people. Nothing will work in Tripura. There is no place for politics of fooling people.”
In his energetic speech, Deb also referred to the communist rule and said, “the party that even failed to provide security to its own leaders, MLAs and administrative officers during its rule is now shedding crocodile tears in the name of democracy and law and order.”
Addressing another election rally in support of BJP-nominated candidates at new motorstand area of Belonia, he said, “in democracy, every political party has the right to reach out people and seek vote. But, no one should misguide the people.”
In the rally, around 700 people from other parties joined BJP.
MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik and other local BJP leaders were present in the rally.
