Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma has smelt an unholy and dangerous understanding between CPM and Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Both of them are trying to misguide people, he said while addressing a Poll campaign in support of BJP nominated candidate for Ward 20 in Agartala Municipal Corporation.

Referring to post poll violence, Dev Varma said there is a similarity between TMC and CPM. He cited examples of ‘violence’ in Tripura during previous Assembly polls in which CPM won the polls in more than 50 seats. In West Bengal, TMC won in the last Assembly Polls in 200 seats, yet a serious violence was unleashed, he said on Saturday.  

“In West Bengal, over 90 thousand had to flee away from their homes, thousands of women were raped and many people killed after the last Assembly Polls”, he commented.

The Minister also mentioned the ‘Khela Hobe’ slogan of the TMC and said, “Voting is a holy exercise for us but they call it a Khela – they want to play with the sentiments, sufferings and tears of people”, Dev Varma said.

Continuing his verbal tirade against the TMC, he said, Agartala is a historic city. It witnessed royal regime and emergence of democracy. This city has a specific character and people of all religion stay here together.

Unfortunately, some people are trying to vitiate and spoiling the situation.

On another note, the Minister said, AMC areas are witnessing several activities under Smart City Mission. If BJP wins the Civic Body polls in the State developmental works in Agartala and urban areas would become smoother.

In this connection, he pointed out advantages of having the same party governance in Centre and State and Panchayats.

“During previous regime, a total of 4800 houses were sanctioned in five years – whereas funds for construction of 1 lakh 47 houses were transferred on a single day under the PMAY-G scheme. It became possible as 90 per cent of Panchayats in Tripura are being controlled by BJP and hence, works needed for obtaining sanctions could have been done promptly”, he said and added activities in AMC and other Civic Bodies will also become smooth after victories of BJP candidates.  

He also referred to huge presence of womenfolk in meetings of BJP and he saluted them.
