As the Tripura government has set its target to ensure drinking water facility to every household by December 2022 under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the works are going on in mission mode, said Drinking Water and Sanitation minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

The DWS minister on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting in Khowai district to review the implementation status of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.

According to a government press release, he said, “works are going on in a mission mode to achieve the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

While taking review of the project, the DWS minister also passed necessary instructions to the officials concerned.

According to Chowdhury, the scheme is being implemented across the state in full swing as part of the promises made in the Vision Document. He assured of extending all necessary support to make this mission 100 percent successful.

Taking part in the discussion, the engineers highlighted the progress and challenges. In this context, the DWS minister advised for discussion with the local administration for solving the problems.

Sabhadhipati of Khowai Zilla Parishad Joydeb Debbarma, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Secretary of DWS department Kiran Gitte, District Magistrate, Khowai- Smita Mol and many other officers were present in the review meeting.

 

Meanwhile, according to a government press release, as many as 2,87,633 rural households have been provided free water connections between November 2018 and November 2021. Among them, 8,286 water connections have been provided in the month of November this year.

The figure included 450 connections in North Tripura district, 723 connections in Unakoti district, 1142 in Dhalai district, 708 in Khowai district, 1798 in West Tripura, 1126 in Sepahijala, 1417 in Gomati and 592 connections in South Tripura, the release said.
