In consonance with the Central Government’s stress on organic farming, ICA Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury batted for utilization of organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers. He also said self-sufficiency of the country could be achieved through the development of the farmers.
With the initiative of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, a national conference was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Auditorium in Gujarat on organic farming and earning profit with minimum investment.
Prime Minister on December 16 morning addressed farmers across the country. The programme was shown virtually to the farmers in Jirania Panchayat Samiti Hall as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury attended the programme at Jirania Panchayat Samiti HalI to listen to the Prime Minister’s address.
Along with him, Vice Chairman of Jirania Panchayat Samiti Pritam Debnath, Agriculture Superintendent of Jirania agriculture sub-division Subrata Das and Pradhans and Upapradhans of different Panchayats attended the programme.
ICA Minister at the end of the programme emphasized organic farming and said, organic fertilizers should be used instead of chemical fertilizers that will help crops hold its nutritional value and will also help keep diseases away which is why the central government has emphasized the organic way of farming.
He called upon the farmers to adopt organic ways of doing farming and took Sikkim as an example of it. He suggested conducting a seminar for all the farmers in the sub-division on organic fanning. He said, farmers are our providers which is why we have to give utmost importance to them.
Modern technology-based machinery has come out for agriculture which is resulting in an increase in the income of farmers as the nation will become self-sufficient with the development of the farmers.
He also spoke about Kisan Credit Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, soil health card etc.
